We cater for all driving interests: social drives, showing and horse driving trials. (Those new to carriage driving may find the explanations of types of events useful.) We also run training sessions and social and educational events.

Caroline Douglas Training Clinics

South Downs Harness Club is pleased to continue our training Clinics with Caroline Douglas.

Caroline is a Light Harness Horse Instructor (LHHI) as well as BHS Intermediate Instructor, Private Drive and Attelage de Tradition Judge. In 2017 Caroline was invited to judge at Horse of the Year show, quite an accolade. We have been holding clinics since December 2015.

Caroline is able to give lessons from harness and carriage fit, to driving single, pairs, multiples, cones, obstacles, ridden and groundwork. A judge for driving trials as well as showing and attelage Caroline has a broad range of experience to share.

The clinics have been very popular and weekends are getting increasingly busier, working around different events but also Caroline’s availability.

For summer 2018 we will hold clinics on a Tuesday afternoon and into the evening once a month at Lowhill Farm.

In order to make allocation of places as fair as possible, SDHC members interested in a place are asked to return a completed copy of the form.

Registration will be held open for 2 weeks. After this time, a ballot will be held so that everyone applying gets at least one lesson.

After this, a waiting list will be held and open to non-members. We often get cancellations, particularly in the week before so if you are available you may get invited to attend at short notice.
