On 27th December, the Club held a Christmas World Cup Spectacular at Shedfield Riding School near Southampton.
The morning was a normal World Cup event, followed in the afternoon by Steve Lucas’ new event – “The World Cup Relay”. Drivers are paired up by lots, typically a novice driver with an open/experienced driver. Each will drive a slightly shortened World Cup course, carrying their baton. The emphasis is on accuracy not speed, in the cones and obstacles but also by meeting the optimum time!
Kayti writes: “What a fun day for SDHC! It was great to welcome three new drivers to their first competition, all of whom did brilliantly! It was also good to see so many friends, driving or otherwise, come and say hello…
A huge thank you to our crew for the day – Stephen Lucas, Chris Laing, Joanne Parrett, Clare Holland, Kim & Sally Hodgson and Liz Coombes. Everything went smoothly and calmly and with lots of support and smiles. And to Jane Stuart for carrying out the new driver assessments.”
