Petworth Drive, June 16

Members’ social drive through Petworth Park, courtesy of the National Trust.

Well…. What can we say, we were blessed with one of the most beautiful sunny days of the year! This makes the drive a very enjoyable social experience and is a drive many members enjoy.
Nine turnouts arrived in the park ready for the 8 mile drive around the park; we set off at 2pm in convoy and viewed the wonderful countryside and deer. The drive has always had challenging areas of terrain of which all turnouts coped well. The drive was slow to help comprise the livestock in the warm conditions enabling whips to take in the beautiful surroundings which we are honoured and thankful to have the use of. After 1 ½hrs drive we returned to light refreshments and delicious homemade cake! Of which I would personally like to thank members for bringing along. It was again a lovely drive of which I was pleased to be involved in. I would like to encourage all members to continue to attend the drives to help keep the permissive route available to the club on an annual basis, plus it makes all the paperwork and organisation worthwhile. Hope to see you all again in the future.
Happy Driving season for 2016

Kayti adds: “Lovely sunny day, great company.. and the views?? fab !! A huge thank you to Davinia Ellis, her family and helpers for leading the great 8 mile drive over a mix of terrain, with large herds of deer in the parkland, through woodland with boggy bits for jumping and through the ‘garden’ by the big house.. And for the wonderful tea afterwards.”

Thanks to Davinia and Ray for the photos. (Click on the photos to see a large image.)
