Petworth Drive, June 17

We had what I would call the perfect weather for the horses on the drive this year. This makes the drive a very enjoyable social experience and is a drive many members enjoy.

As last year nine turnouts arrived in the park ready for the 7 mile drive around the park; a combination of singles, two pairs and five Friesians this year. We set off at 2pm in convoy and viewed the wonderful countryside and deer. The drive was slow to medium pace enabling whips to take in the beautiful surroundings which we are honoured and thankful to have the use of. We returned to light refreshments and a yummy Asda Carrot Cake!

It was again a lovely drive of which I was pleased to be involved in. It was touch and go as we experienced an unfortunate personal situation with our horsebox, and the day before had no transport to get to the drive. A very good friend lent us a trailer to transport the horses of which I personally was very grateful as the drive may of otherwise been postponed. The joys of Equestrianism!

I would like to encourage all members to continue to attend the drives to help keep the permissive route available to the club on an annual basis, plus it makes all the paperwork and organisation worthwhile.

Dates have already been out forward for 2018 with a possible route extension and an earlier time. Hope to see you all again in the future.

Happy Driving season for 2017
