We had a great time at the Annual Camp last weekend (12-14th August) at Ober Farm, Brockenhurst. Most members arrived sometime on the Friday and set up their camps before joining other members at Lou’s Diner for shepherds pie and veg. Some members only catch up at Camp so loads of news needed to be caught up with – mostly related to equines! We were also very pleased to welcome some new ‘campers’ to our happy band. Full English breakfast was served in the morning followed by a drive through the Forest led by our host Stuart Johnstone. The turnouts varied from Fresians to Shetlands and it was great to see them all going out together. After lunch the non Equine section of the camp took over with Lynn and Alan’s Dog Agility, always providing a good laugh and loud cheering supporting the dogs, large and small. But the best bit was watching the Human Agility with handlers completing the course their dogs had run. Not suprisingly youth took over here, ‘older’ members creaked and groaned their way round in good humour but were beaten by a very determined teenage Ben! The evening BBQ was fab with wine flowing…………..
Sunday started again with full english. A dressage, cones and skills competition organised by Steve followed. Were does Steve keep getting all his skill ideas from? Lunch, yummy cakes and results closed the weekend camp and happy but tired campers packed up and made their way home. Many thanks to our organisor Louise Nicholson for all her hard work and her helpers who after so many years know their jobs helping to run a smooth weeknd and the Johnstone family for putting up with us.
Looking forward to next year.
