Trec June 2011

13 turnouts enjoyed a lovely off-road drive across fields laid with headlands and spectacular views at Foxcombe, near South Harting by kind permission of Mr and Mrs H Fitzalan-Howard. The weather was much cooler than it had been with the odd bit of drizzle coming through keeping the flies away and horses happier. After a brief break for lunch, 4 skills including drive along a narrow ‘corridor’, weaving, coits, fishing (deemed too easy, upgrade next year!) and a cones course were completed. Then it was the turn of the canines to do a dog agility course designed by Jack aged 11 and Jack aged 12yrs. Tea and cakes followed with generous donations for the raffle being given in aid of Horses Help Heroes and local charity Canine Partners who train assistance dogs for the disabled. Many thanks to the Fitzalan-Howard family for letting us invade their weekend and to stewards – Kim, Paul, Lynn, Allan, Jane Soul, Chrisitne Blakely, both Jack’s, Milo, Simon and Karen; and to Jane Stuart for organising it all!

Pony – 1st Lynne Hamill, joint second Jenny Moon and Dr Juan Mason, 3rd Sue Martin, 4th Louise Nicholson, 5th Carol Page.
Horses – 1st Miriam Balme, 2nd Janet Doe, 3rd Jim Hailstone, 4th Tabe Annema, 5th Peter Preen and 6th John Dines.

<a Thanks to Kim for the photos.
