Inside-Out, May 2012

Having had to postpone the Inside-Out because of wet ground in April, 16 turnouts enjoyed a wonderfully sunny day on 27th May. The classes for novices were well supported, especially the one for novice whips with novice ponies. It was great to see so many new faces.

The dressage, both driven and ridden, took place in the morning, while Steve, assisted by Chris, put out the cones and built two obstacles. Then there was a break for a much-appreciated lunch, a BBQ provided by Louise with help from Lynn and Alan.

The cones course looked nice and flowing but that was deceptive: some of those turns were very sharp – even for me driving my 11.1! (Steve clearly hasn’t lost his touch and I think really we’d be disappointed if the course was easy, wouldn’t we?) The obstacles drove nicely (and even I didn’t get lost for once).

Congratulations to the five class winners:
NOVICE WHIP: Will Leslie
OPEN: Joanna Bassett
RIDDEN & TREC: Helen Hughes-Annema.

Thanks to Louise and Bill for letting us use their facilities, to Keith for judging the dressage, to Steve and Chris for the cones and obstacles, to Di for scoring, to Lynn and Alan for helping with the BBQ and for all the other helpers without whom an event like this can’t be run.

It was a lovely day and I hope we’ll be seeing those new faces again at future events.

Thanks to Louise for the photos.
